The room we had was very clean, cozy and easy to relax in. It was a 3 person room (a queen and double bed), so with just the two of us, there was plenty of space. The attached kitchenette/dining room was fantastic, and if we stayed longer, we certainly would have made use of the amenities and made meals for ourselves there. It was also a great location, close to a metro line to the main station. All in all, we were very pleased with our stay there and would love to return.
As our flights were delayed, our plans had to change with staying at the Pension Michael the first night, and we didn't receive a discount or refund for that. However, even though the manager wasn't at the hotel at all times, he was very prompt in responding to our emails and phone calls in arranging the logistics of giving us the keys and showing us around our room once we arrived.

The family room was very well equipped, clean, with space for 4 people with too much luggage, many restaurants around, near to the Ubahn and with good prices.

The hotel is in a quiet part of Pretzlau Berg området, in a residencial areal. Public transport is quite good, it's about 5-10 minutes to the stop for the U2 underground line, which will take you to Alexanderplatz, and from there it's easy access to most Ubahn lines. The rooms were tidy and in good condition, so for the price we paid, it was a good value for money.
The rooms seemed to mostly be on ground level, with windows facing the backyard. The pension requires cash payment, which meant we had to wire the money over to a foreign account and that takes extra time and the bank charges extra fees for this. It was ok, but it's a little less conveinient.

Compact appartment that had everything I needed. Some great asian restaurants and all kinds of shops, bars etc. in the street.

It was very quiet inside the pension and in the surroundings. The most appreciated was to have not more than +22C degrees in our room when it was almost +40C outside (there was no conditioner but the room stayed cool anyway), the fridge was very useful too as cold drinks were just necessary. I loved a small kitchen in the room. It's especially comfortable if you travel with kids I believe.
Maybe it was not hotel's location but bad luck. The pension is located not far from Schönhauser Alle metro station which one together with the next one towards the center of Berlin were under renovation until the 11th of November 2010. It was not comfortable to wait for substitute busses and then change for metro especially as the busses were out of traffic at times. We had to pay too much for the taxi rides within our stay. All the trips from the hotel took too much time every time because S-Bahn didn't help for destinations we took. This location next to Mauer park is in general great for those who want to relax and hang out in bars and restaurants in Prenzlauer Berg, it's a bit too far from everything if you want to go sight seeing

Great transport links. Safe area. Great self contained studio with ensuite. Clean. Nice shops and restaurants nearby. Everything I needed for my stay. Paid upfront via bank transfer so didn't have to carry cash. Owner helpful.

The room was definitely a great size, and large windows let in a lot of room. The Pensione Michael is also incredibly quiet -- I only crossed paths with another guest just once.
The price listed on the website when I reserved was not the price charged to me when I arrived. This, as you can imagine, is incredibly frustrating and affected my overall opinion of the hotel. That said, Michael did respond to my e-mail enquiry about the price change promptly and said it was a cleaning charge charged to all guests. Michael is very friendly, the room is very clean and well maintained, and I would suggest others stay here -- but just keep in mind the extra fee when booking.

Very good location close to Schønhauser allè. Colourful interior. Very clean place.
Would have liked more electric light for reading. A bit cold on the floor, even though it was summer!
